Great Expectations- Estella’s POV

Her veil, and her, quite a sight
That house covered in white
Turning grey,
the mold on the cake,
As her hair
The color of despair

Over something, or someone,
Over her beloved one
Stuck in the past, the clocks don’t tick
I hated it all, every last bit
I learned to live with it

I loved you,
But more than that,
Wanted her to love me
I loved you,
But more than that,
Didn’t want you to be hurt because of me

I broke hearts, so hers could heal
But did she even have one, or did he take it with him?
I made my heart mute, just for her appeal
But did she even notice, or was he all that was in her mind, till the brim?

She was rich,
I learned that that was it;
That’s all that you could want in life,
No hard work, pain or strife.
No adventure or risk
Prim, proper and perfect was the way to live
But she’s far from that,

The world is foolish
You showed me that
I’d seen that before, that’s all I wish

It’s too late now, isn’t it?
On this bench, years later
It’s too late now, isn’t it?
After all of it, I still can’t hate her
